In this episode, I introduce an experimental format where I have a conversation with a guest in public in front of my own home…literally on my porch in Philadelphia. It is a symbol of taking the conversations back to the block where we all use to connect with neighbors and talk about issues facing our community.
We are joined by Marrita Richardson, who works in government and looking to make a splash in politics in the near future. It is a “popcorn topic” episode where we bounce around a lot and stumble upon some pretty interesting issues. I won’t list them all out here but we finish off with this one: How do you talk to white people about racism? We explore how she defines it and how it informs conversations about it with those who might not understand the various interpretations of one of the most impactful words in our society today.
And, to make things interesting as a BONUS, I will be releasing an actual conversation I had with a young white female about racism and an interesting post she shared out of frustration when she got tired of being told, “she wouldn’t understand what it is like to face racism in our society”.

Again, a VERY experimental episode so please share and give me your feedback on what you think!
P.S. Please check out Marrita’s plea, or rather, call to action for connections for mentors in the area of campaign management. Email her if you know someone and hook our friend up!
